How adorable is this couple together!? I met Liseth last year when I switched banks and was incredibly happy to have such a personable bank-teller. When I found out she got engaged, I just knew I had to photograph her engagement with her awesome fiancé Joel! We went to one of their favorite locations, Seaport Village, and had an awesome time shooting right up until sunset. Here are a few photos from the session.

You know those incredibly small weddings with an insane amount of emotion, energy, and beauty? This was one of them. Although Tais & Alex were already legally married a few months prior, they really wanted to have a small reception with their family and friends to celebrate (and of course some epic portraits in La Jolla too!). After our portrait session, we made our way to the Estancia Hotel where everyone danced their butt off and celebrated this awesome couple's marriage like there was no tomorrow. Weston Fuller is an awesome commercial & conceptual photographer based out of Utah (you can view his website here). Weston and his awesome family came down to the area to visit, being that his wife is from San Diego. Naturally his family didn't mind having a camera pointed at them for a few hours, so the shoot was a really good time! Here are a few images from the session.
Can you believe it's almost 2015? The start of the year officially marks my six years as a photographer. A random summary of my year includes photographing over 50 weddings, moving three times, fully refining my photographic style, meeting awesome new friends and clients, and jumping ship from Canon to Nikon. After photographing Lien & Jon's epic two day engagement session (which can be found here), I knew their wedding would be just as fun. Lien is extremely creative and thrifty, so she took the time to not only hand-make every single decoration, but she also designed her own wedding dress too! This stylish and fun DIY wedding took place at a lovely mountain center in Altadena, CA. With deer running around the grounds, a hot sun above our heads, and a wild wedding party, this wedding was a blast to attend and photograph. Check out a few images from throughout the day.

Stephanie contacted me a few months ago to set up an epic portrait session with a small portion of her ever-so-large family. Her and her amazing family kept the children photogenic and loved the camera. The day was extra-hot, the children were eager, and there were many beach-goers -- but that didn't stop us from getting some adorable beach family portraits at one of my favorite places of all time. I've known Kim & Brian for almost five years -- so of course I was not only incredibly happy for them when they got engaged, but I was thrilled to be their wedding photographer. The gorgeous church was located deep in downtown Detroit, so the bridal party decided to take their own personal trolley to get around quicker. This wedding was incredibly refreshing -- with the bridal prep, ceremony, and reception locations all being in different cities, there were plenty of stops in between to get some amazing portraits in different iconic locations. I photographed Natasha & Steve's engagement session (which can be seen here) a couple of month's ago and instantaneously fell in love with them. Natasha has an awesome style and loves photography, while Steve's from Ohio, and because I love photography & am from the Midwest as well, we naturally got along great. I couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous venue, as anything and everything was photogenic at all times of day. To top it off, the couple gave me full creative freedom to do what I want, so I was practically in heaven. I met Mariangela and Robbie through a mutual friend earlier this year and knew they would be a blast to photograph due to their amazing chemistry. After these two got warmed up to being in front of the camera, they rocked every portrait -- and it sure does show. A little back-story about this awesome couple: Mariangela is from Italy, so she of course has a big, close family. A few minutes spent talking with her and it's easy to realize how sweet and caring she really is. Robbie, although he appears as your typical Californian surfer, is an extremely driven entrepreneur that has created and owned all sorts of companies since his early 20s -- including a wedding photography studio. Their wedding, although sporting around 60 guests, was intimate in its own way due to the closeness of each and every guest, family member, and friend. We started off the day at the South Mesa Lodge Hotel and made our way to the Marine Memorial Golf Course in Camp Pendleton, where the ceremony and reception were held. And the best part? I absolutely loved this elegant wedding set in downtown Carlsbad at the Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. Kristin & Chris were naturals in front of the camera, so of course these photos came out stunning! The gorgeous outdoor reception took place at Pelican Point in Carlsbad, which was right across the street from the venue, so it gave us extra time for some awesome beach photos at sunset.
