In an attempt to REALLY start blogging more, I'm digging up this laid back engagement session with Rachel & Karl from last November. I remember this session quite well - one of the reasons being it was the first time meeting both Rachel and Karl in the same room (I met Karl previously and only knew Rachel from email). Relooking through the gallery has me, once again, smiling from ear to ear. These guys constantly poked fun at each other, had tons of inside jokes, and overall just made the session ultra easy (and hilarious)…

I recently blogged Lea & Martin's wedding day (check out their US Grant wedding photos here) and mentioned that I never blogged their engagement session, which spurred me to dig through an old hard drive and re-edit a few, so here we are!
I took a brief trip out to San Francisco to meet these two and photograph them all over the city. Since I'm a San Diego wedding photographer, it was my first time visiting these locations, but I still found some insanely beautiful spots and am extremely happy with how the photos turned out. We first started off at the San Francisco City Hall, and then when sunset approached, we drove over to Sutro Baths. We had some awesome conversation and they were nice enough to laugh at my corny jokes, which made for some great photos (see cover).
This was my the first engagement session I photographed out there, but it certainly won't be my last. See you soon, San Francisco! :-)
Jenna + Andrew | Los Penasquitos Canyon Engagement Session | San Diego Portrait Photographer
I've been meaning to photograph at Los Penasquitos Canyon for a while now and was absolutely blown away by how amazing it looked after a few days of rain - so saturated and alive!
I met Andrew a few years ago, and since he's also a great photographer, I knew he and his awesome fiance Jenna would appreciate lots of creativity during the session. Because of the few days of rain San Diego had prior, the sky was ultra cloudy, which made the photos quite moody...
Lisa + Chris | Burbank Engagement Session
I got connected with Lisa & Chris late last year when they booked me for their wedding and was pretty excited because of how laid back they were - plus, they both had super rad jobs (Lisa worked on the set of Orange is the New Black!). When they mentioned they wanted me to cruise up to Burbank to shoot their engagement session, I couldn't have been more pumped.
We went on a half mile hike up a trail that overlooked LA and they had a blast goofing around and popping champagne! These two were awesome in front of the camera - definitely looking forward to their wedding later this year with Lavish Wed...

Last month, I took a mini roadtrip to a few awesome locations in Southern California while staying in Palm Springs for a week or so. I was only an hour away from Joshua Tree, so when Whitney & Nick told me they wanted to shoot there, I was STOKED. Joshua Tree National Park is where these guys had their first anniversary, so I was pretty excited to be able to spend the time with them creating some fun images together.
We drove in about 20 minutes to find a huge grouping of Joshua Trees, shot for about 30 minutes, and then drove to another nearby location with a ton of unique rock formations. I made Whitney & Nick climb up a huge pile of rocks - these two were troopers!
Monique + Ryan | Batiquitos Lagoon | Carlsbad Engagement Session
Last year I lived in an awesome surf town by the name of Carlsbad. I met Monique & Ryan a few months before I moved down to San Diego when they moved in next door - needless to say, I was pretty stoked when they contacted me to photograph their engagement session!
The original shoot location was flooded due to some rain the past weekend, so we decided to spontaneously go to Batiquitos Lagoon for the majority of the session and then head to South Ponto Beach for sunset...
Jamie + Alex | Sunset Cliffs | Ocean Beach Engagement Session
I've been getting more and more requests for at-home sessions lately, and each time, the sessions end up being some of my favorite ever! There's nothing better than allowing a couple to be fully relaxed in a familiar location while working around the unique light of their home - and Jamie & Alex's bright apartment in Mission Bay was no exception.
We started off in their apartment, and before sunset, we headed down to Sunset Cliffs to shoot at the bluffs and ended up lucking out with a colorful sky. Here's a small preview of their San Diego engagement session! :-)
Abbie + Evan | LA Lifestyle Engagement |San Diego Wedding Photographer
Abbie & Evan wanted me to document their life in their rustic apartment, filled with collector's items and antiques. We photographed a bit indoors and then headed outside where Evan grabbed his Vespa - check out this small preview of their Los Angeles engagement session above.

Read more2015, A Year In Review | Best San Diego Wedding Photographer
While 2015 was by far my most successful year to date, it was also the most challenging. I love weddings because they allow me to create and document the day exactly as I see them, but as a photographer that's constantly challenged by my peers and who gets bored easily, I find that if I'm not constantly pushing myself and trying new techniques and styles out, I lose the burning flame I have. This year has been a journey of self-growth, solidifying my style, finding out what works, what doesn't work, and ultimately being content with myself.
I would love to type up paragraphs about how amazing and inspirational 2015 was, but let's face it, you clicked the link to view my images -- and a picture is worth 1,000 words anyway, right? I hope you enjoy my year in review.
Cheers to a happy and successful 2016!

I met Juli & Harold last year when meeting with them to chat about their wedding. It didn't take long for us to warm up to each other, and after a little coaching in front of the camera, these two blew me away with how comfortable they looked in front of the camera. Check out a small preview of their Poway engagement session below and keep an eye peeled for their intimate wedding at Frank Sinatra's old mansion later this year!

I met Tracy & Paul earlier this year and immediately knew this couple would rock. It's an amazing occurrence when people come into your life and give you their complete trust to photograph them in such a way that will not only bring out their personalities, but also make them look their best while effortlessly having fun in front of the camera. We started off near Balboa Park and headed to Sunset Cliffs for sunset -- these two contrasting locations made for a great session. Look out for their wedding later this year.

Meet Courtney & Craig: an awesome couple that loves nature almost as much as they love their energetic pup, Archie. Craig is from England and is a soccer coach and Courtney is from California and is a professional dancer. These two (hmm, three if you count Archie) were naturals in front of the camera and really made it hard for me to choose my favorite images for this blog post. Below are a handful of my favorites -- I can't wait for their wedding later this year!

How adorable is this couple together!? I met Liseth last year when I switched banks and was incredibly happy to have such a personable bank-teller. When I found out she got engaged, I just knew I had to photograph her engagement with her awesome fiancé Joel! We went to one of their favorite locations, Seaport Village, and had an awesome time shooting right up until sunset. Here are a few photos from the session.

As a photographer, nothing feels more satisfying than when you connect with your clients. Starting this session off, I instantly clicked with Natasha & Steve and it made everything so-so-so easy. Natasha is from Australia and recently moved out to sunny California to be with Steve, who's originally from Ohio. Natasha & Steve are actually already married, but are having their official marriage ceremony & reception later this year (keep a look out for it, it's going to be awesome). I met Jessica & Scott several months back when booking their wedding, so this was the first time I actually had the chance to learn more about their awesome lives and photograph how madly in love they are. We decided on Old Poway Park because they wanted a nice variation of lush trees and awesome railroad tracks/buildings that are scattered throughout the park. After a few minutes of warming up, I really began to see how perfectly matched these two are -- the photos speak for themselves!
Enjoy!
