I've been living in San Diego the last four years now and I'm ashamed to say that I have never been to a CRSSD Festival - until last weekend. When I realized the fest was quickly approaching, I reached out to a friend and was able to obtain a media pass - which is an amazing thing to have if you're a photographer because it allows you to go pretty much anywhere you want to shoot (and was especially amazing because without a media pass, you're not allowed to bring a DSLR in to the event).
Since I wasn't shooting for anyone, I decided that I would shoot part film (thanks for the inspiration, Chip Litherland) and part digital. Being that I got to the event about an hour before sunset, I didn't have as much time to photograph as I'd hoped for, but it was still an incredible experience - and something I really hope I get the chance to do more often.
The top set of images were shot with a D4s + 14-24mm f/2.8 + 35mm f/1.4, and the bottom set were shot with a Canon Elan 7 + Portra 400 (expired in March of 2013) + 50mm f/1.4.
Enjoy!
