When Stephanie & Mike told me about their wedding venue, I was pretty ecstatic to finally get a chance to photograph at Orfila Winery - a small vineyard & gorgeous wedding venue out in Escondido. I immediately bonded with Stephanie & Mike at their engagement session in Orange County because of their willingness to do whatever in order to get an awesome photo, so I couldn't wait to capture their wedding day.
With some intense heat, a packed day, and a wild wedding party, this wedding kept me on my toes from start to finish.
For photographers: this was my first wedding using the new Nikon D5 (which I reviewed here), and it definitely blew my mind. The instant focus in low light, the wide spread of AF points, the insane high-ISO, and the gorgeous skin tones made this wedding one of my favorite to date. I mostly used telephoto lenses on it for the majority of the day, including the Nikon 58mm f/1.4 & Nikon 85mm f/1.4. I also threw on the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens towards the end of the night for some dance photos & the last astrophotography shot of the night. I kept a Nikon 35mm f/1.4 on my D750 the majority of the day.
Huge thanks to my good friend Topher Riley who second shot for me and helped capture some great moments.
Enjoy!
