Ace Hotel Wedding Palm Springs

Wooooo!  After a few weeks of traveling, I'm finally back to blogging.

Kerry is originally from New Zealand & Igor is from Australia, but after moving to Seattle, they wanted a sunny elopement in Palm Springs with lots of color and energy - CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

The intimate elopement started off at The Parker Hotel where they were literally limited to getting married on the small 5x15 foot rectangle balcony outside of their room.  After the short ceremony, we basically drove around to a few epic portrait locations - first, we headed to The Saguaro (HOLY COLOR), then we headed to a remote location with some awesome windmills in the background (with a freaking 60 MPH sandstorm going on - I might have gotten a full-body exfoliation), and after, we headed to Ace Hotel to finish up.

Although this was just a small elopement, it was definitely an amazing & unforgettable time and I loved having a few hours to just take rad portraits and be the chauffeur of these two love birds for the evening.

For photographers: all images shot with the Nikon D5 & D750.  Lenses used include 35mm, 45mm, 58mm (see if you can spot the Brenizer Method).  Flashes used for backlight are the Flashpoint TTL R2 triggered by the Flashpoint R2 Trigger (X1N).  Feel free to comment with any questions.

Cheers!

Palm Springs Windmills Photoshoot

One of the most epic parts about this Palm Springs elopement was when we headed out to the desert into the iconic windmills to capture some photos. During the summer months, it can get blazing hot in Palm Springs so it is usually a wise choice to break away from the city and head out to the open desert where strong wind gusts can provide some relief from the heat. However, during Kerry and Igor’s portrait session the wind was howling at 60mph which was both a little fun and terrifying. Thankfully, the bride and groom were totally down to have some fun in the windy conditions and the end result was some really amazing photos. There are always a lot of unknowns you can’t factor in when planning a Palm Springs wedding, but the most important thing is to have fun regardless of the situation!
